Pediatric Dentist Rochester

Positively changing a generation's view of dental treatment

Preventive Services

Infant Oral Health Care
We follow the recommendations of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry that a child’s first visit to the dentist should occur by 12 months of age.  This visit will enable Dr. Aslani-Breit to evaluate your child and introduce you to proper oral hygiene.  Diet, fluoride, finger and pacifier habits, and tooth eruption will be discussed to ensure optimal dental health.  By starting early, we can enable your child to enjoy the lifelong benefits of a healthy mouth.

Recall Program
Recall appointments are preventive dentistry’s foundation.  In our practice we customize appointment schedules to the patient’s needs.  Often children with significant problems need to be seen on a more frequent basis for an examination, dental cleaning, and fluoride treatment.

Sealants protect your child’s teeth from decay.  They are made of clear plastic and are painted on the grooves of the posterior teeth in one visit.

Mouthguards prevent dental injuries.  A form-fitting mouthguard can be fabricated for your child in our office.

Interceptive Orthodontics
Early examination and treatment may help prevent or reduce the severity of a malocclusion or bad bite.  Starting treatment or preventive care at the proper time, even when the baby teeth are present, can reduce the overall treatment time and result in a better outcome.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Tooth-colored fillings/bonding provide strength to the restored tooth and release small amounts of fluoride to prevent further decay.  Similar in color and texture to natural teeth, the restorations are much less noticeable and much more attractive than other types of fillings, providing your child a confident smile.

Bleaching/tooth whitening is a safe and cost effective cosmetic treatment for many adolescents.  Usually the best time to evaluate whether or not your child is a good candidate for bleaching is after completion of orthodontics, and all permanent teeth are present.

Sedation/Hospital Dentistry

Oral sedation/Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) are available for young children and children with anxiety who can not cope with traditional dental treatment.  Dr. Aslani-Breit has extensive training and experience in behavior management with both non-pharmacological and pharmacological techniques and exceeds the standard of care in her monitoring and emergency equipment.  She is trained and certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and she is a certified sedation provider.

General Anesthesia
Dr Aslani-Breit has privileges at Rochester General Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital where she admits patients who need comprehensive oral rehabilitation. It is much easier for a young child or a child with a disability to tolerate extensive work under general anesthesia in one visit (go home the same day), rather than long hours or multiple visits in the dental chair.  Every child should have the opportunity of the best dental care possible, regardless of the impairment.

Emergency Services

In case of a dental emergency we are always available to help.  lf your child has an accident, please call our office as soon as possible.  We will see your child immediately if necessary.  If it is an after-hours emergency, call 427-8620 and instructions will be given on how to reach the dentist on call.
